Alice Bernadette Phillips (nee Lewis)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Alice Bernadette Phillips (nee Lewis), who passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on May 12, 2026. Alice lived 90 wonderful years and was born on April 29, 1936, in Colliers, NL.
Alice will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her best friend and devoted husband of 64 years John, her children who adored her, John, Lori, and Brad (Melanie), and her cherished grandchildren Gene, Abby, and Gavin, who brought her immense joy. Alice was part of a large family and was predeceased by her 11 siblings (John, Mick, Jim, Sam, Charlie, Tom, Ben, Fred, Mary, Betty, Ann) and is survived by her youngest brother Joe (Rita). She had many nieces and nephews who will always remember “Aunt Alice’s” warmth and spirit.
Alice approached life with an easygoing and joyful spirit. She was known for her signature red lipstick, her dark hair, her love of flowers and the many dances around the bay that brought her so much laughter. She spent countless summers camping with her family when her children were young and was always ready to go anywhere, anytime, with a warm smile. She enjoyed simple pleasures like shopping, hanging clothes on the line, and soaking up the sunshine. Above all, she deeply cherished her family—especially her grandchildren, who meant everything to her.
In her younger years, Alice worked as a Nursing Assistant, a role that reflected her caring nature and willingness to help others. She carried that kindness throughout her life, always wearing a smile and rarely worrying, choosing instead to embrace each moment with optimism and openness.
Alice will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her laughter, and fun loving spirit. She was truly someone who was always up for anything, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love, and joyful memories that will be treasured forever.
Alice’s life will be lovingly celebrated on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, in the community of Colliers. Family and friends are invited to gather for a “Celebration of Life” at Flaherty’s Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., to honour her memory and the kindness she shared so freely.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home at 3:00pm. Inurnment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Colliers. We will continue with a gathering for a “Celebration of Alice’s Life” at the Colliers Community Recreation Centre, where stories, laughter and cherished memories can be shared in her honour.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations in Alice’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Heaven has gained another beautiful soul, love you forever mom.
