CROKE, Derek John - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his family, Derek John Croke of Marysvale, age 59 years.

Predeceased by his parents: Tom and Philomena Croke; brother David Croke; and parents-in-law: William and Marion McDonald.

Derek will be forever loved by his life partner of 40 years, Colleen, and his daughter Deidre (Mike), and furry feline buddy Moll. Also, mourning Derek's loss are his sisters: Brenda (Chris) McHugh, Ros (Brett) Efford, Anne (Ernie) Bartlett; his brothers: Tom (Charissa), Gerard (Vina), Derm (Wanda), and Gary (Carolyn); sisters-in-law: Darlene Croke, Cheryl (Philip) Terry, Peggy Edwards, and Bernice Wade; and brother-in-law Cyril Wade; numerous nieces and nephews, especially nephews: Martin and Thomas, and niece Jenna; special uncle Jack Croke, along with many friends and colleagues.

Dad enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a strong independant hard worker who took pleasure in growing and tending to his own vegetable gardens, cutting wood, and spending time with his family. He was a proud member of LIUNA Local 1208, working various jobs, making lifelong friends along the way. For him, there was no such thing as "can't". He spent his free time on the Ridge, where he was truly in his happy place. A devoted partner, father and brother, Dad always put his family first. He loved unconditionally, was a man of his word, and gave wholeheartedly wherever he could. He will be forever loved and cherished by many.

Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, and staff of 4 North A and ICU of the Health Science Centre, for your compassion and care along his journey.

We would also like to thank our families and friends for all their support and comfort.

Visitation will be held at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, on Friday, June 30th, 10:00am - 9:00pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of the Snows Church, Marysvale, Saturday, July 1st, at 2:00pm.

Interment to follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brigus.

Following our Liturgy you are invited to the Marysvale Parish Hall for refreshments as we continue to celebrate Derek's life and the gift of our faith.
