Eileen Mary
Meaney (Spurvey)
Oct 8, 1945 — May 8, 2026
Avondale
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Eileen Meaney (Spurvey), who was welcomed with open arms by her husband Woodrow and daughter Marilyn.
Eileen passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on May 8th at Carbonear General Hospital at the age of 80. She is predeceased by her husband Woodrow, daughter Marilyn, parents: Catherine and Vincent Spurvey, siblings: Dominic, George, Rick, and Mary; and members of the Perry, Spurvey, and Meaney families.
Cherished memories of her long life will continue to shine on the family she leaves behind; daughter Mim (Wayne) & son Woody (Joan); grandchildren: Denise (Chad), Stephanie (Travis), Claude (Ian), Nathan, and Noah who were the light of her life; great-grandchildren: Katie, Sophie, William, Ava, Haylie, and Billie who were the center of Nana’s world. Eileen leaves behind her siblings; Beth, Charlotte, Vince (Catherine), Charles (Eileen) and Fred (Allison); brother-in-law Albert Meaney (Leona); sister-in-law Lynn Meaney, along with a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend our deepest thank you to her caregiver and friend, Patsy Nolan, who lovingly cared for her in her final year.
Eileen was a devoted wife to Woodrow for 47 years. Together they built a beautiful family and their home was one always filled with love. Their door was open to anyone and there was always room at the kitchen table. In the 14 years since Woodrow’s passing, she carried on with strength and continued this legacy. She spent her life being a loving mother to Marilyn, Mim and Woody, a role she carried with immense pride. Her role as a Nan and Nana brought her great joy, and visits from her grandkids and great-grandkids brought the biggest smile to her face. There were always special treats and warm hugs waiting for them at Nana's house. She loved simple things like having her family around, Wednesday night cards with the ladies, watching the Blue Jays and a Sunday cold plate
