Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Wall

In the early morning hours of Sunday, February 19th, 2023, Betty passed away peacefully,surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 17 th , 1949 in Colliers Riverhead, NL., the place nearest and dearest to her heart. It is where she, with her husband Bill, raised their four children. It is also where she doted, loved and nurtured her five beautiful grandchildren.

Betty worked most of her professional career in health care, where she took pride in her work and made lifelong friendships. Her true passion though, was politics. She was the heart and soul of many political campaigns, and enjoyed every minute of political debate.

Through it all, wherever she went and whatever she did, Betty was best known for her kindness, compassion and generosity.

Predeceased by her parents Gertrude and Nicholas Whelan; siblings Theresa, Agnes, Bridget, Stephen, Michael, Nicholas, Francis, Vince, and Kieran.

Left to mourn with much sadness and broken hearts are husband, and love of her life, Bill; her children Sherri (Mike), Bill (Joanne), Stewart (Sharon), and Waylon (Natasha); her precious grandchildren Julia, Olivia, Sophia, Ethan,and Jess; her sisters Margie, Helen, and Mary;special family members Bev Walsh and Matt Whelan; and many nieces, nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

Her grandchildren were her greatest joy.  They will remember "Nan" for the love and the laugher she brought to their lives.

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
