WHELAN, Gerald Francis - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital in the presence of his devoted wife of 50 years Gertie (Gertrude) nee Kenny.

Gerald was a well known businessman from Colliers (in partnership with his late brother Lar) for many years. He was a loyal supporter of all things blue, including the Progressive Conservative Party and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and James; his siblings Evelyn Gushue, Margaret James, Agatha (Dot) Heffernan, Catherine Walsh, Lawrence, James, and David. He is survived by his in-laws Mary Whelan, Donna Trask, Mary Lane, Agnes DeFabio, and Charles Kenny. As well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

Resting at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, with visitation on Thursday, December 31st from 2pm-9pm and Friday, January 1st from 2pm-9pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Colliers on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016, at 10:30am. Interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colliers.
