Gordon Joseph
Wall
Nov 5, 1948 — Aug 1, 2026
Conception Harbour
Gordon Joseph Wall of Conception Harbour passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Predeceased by his beloved parents, Evelyn and Leo Wall of Avondale; sister, Carrol Wall (William); and brother-in-law, James Murphy.
Leaving to mourn are his sons, whom he shared with his former wife, Sharon Trahey: Gordie (Larissa), Darren (Dawn), and Bradley (Amanda). Also left with cherished memories are his beloved grandchildren: Jade, Daniel, Sara, Tristian, Trinity, Liam, Tyler, Ella, Avery, and Hayley. He is also survived by his brothers, Hubert (Bernice), Patrick “Patty”(Wanda) Robert, and Gary; sisters, Patricia "Patsy" (Dan), Linda (the late James Murphy), Barbara, and the family of his late sister Carrol (William); as well as good buddy, Pat McGrath.
A pillar of strength, a hard worker and a true Newfoundlander at heart, Gordon spent years working in Alberta in the bricklaying trade, making the long drive across the country each year. Yet, his soul belonged to the land back home. He hand-built his own home, hauled wood and spent endless hours in his yard and garage. The woods were where he truly felt at ease, a place he worked in tirelessly up until his late 70s until health forced him to rest. Above all, home and the woods were his sanctuary and his peace. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, Tuesday, August 4th at 12:00pm - 3:00pm.
Funeral Service will follow at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, and Inurnment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Goat Shore Road, Avondale.
