Obituary

James Francis Hearn

January 11, 1951 – March 30, 2025

It is with broken hearts that we announce, the sudden but peaceful passing of our eldest brother James (Jim) in Vancouver, BC formerly of Colliers, NL.

Predeceased by his parents Thomas and Stella, sister Veronica, brother-in-law Jerome Lawlor and members of the Ghaney, Reid and Higdon Families.

Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories his siblings, Tom (Cheryl), Donna (Jerome d.), Maurice (Isabelle), Theresa, Ted (Kim), Regina (Richard), many nieces and nephews.  His daughter Sheila and her children.  His special friend in BC, Cliff Squires.

Jim started his working life in Churchill Falls, and later in St. John's at the Waterford Hospital, the rest of his working career was spent across Canada, from Toronto, Alberta, Manitoba to British Columbia.  He spent the last 40 plus years in Vancouver, he always said he could never go back to Newfoundland because we had to much bad weather and it was always cold.  He certainly enjoyed beautiful BC.  He did however, return home in 2009 – 2010 for a few months, but his heart and soul was back in BC.   As much as we wanted him to come back home, he always said he would think about it and yes, I'll see...I think he was only telling us what we wanted to hear...that someday, he would make the move home.   We will miss you dearly, especially the daily (sometimes twice daily) weekly chats, talking of older times growing up, inquiring of his old  friends and talking current affairs, he loved to chat about politics, the Jays and Leafs and his newest team the Vancouver Canucks, and cars and who had new vehicles and what they had. He always had a vehicle and always kept it in pristine condition.

You have made it to your forever home sweet brother...Mom, Dad and Sis are there to welcome you.  I'm sure the blossoms are all in bloom and you will feel the warmth of heaven's embrace.

At Jim's request cremation has taken place.
