PHILLIPS, James Anthony - Passed peacefully away, at the Health Science Centre, St. John's with his brother by his side, James Anthony Phillps - Age 68 years.

Predeceased by his mother Mary, Father Patrick, brothers Charlie and Greg, sister in law Anne Phillips, brother in law Kevin Whelan.

Leaving to celebrate his life; Big sister Marguerite, Brothers, John (Alice), Ben (Frances), Patrick (Annie Mae), Cyril (Anne), Marilyn (Greg), Sam (Betty), Rose (Charlie), Nick (Mena), Rick (Linda) and the very large family of nieces and nephews and the biggest circle of friends.  Jim really took pride and valued his relationships with his closest friends and his family.  Anyone who was a friend of Jim's knew they had a friend for life.

Resting at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, with visitation on Monday, July 12th from 2:00pm-9:00pm, and Tuesday, July 13th from 2:00pm-9:00pm.

Funeral Service will take place from Immaculate Conception Church, Colliers, on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021, at 11:00am.

Interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colliers, in the Family Plot.

Uncle Jim was a guiding gem to all.

From when we were small to when we got as tall as a Phillips could call tall.

Jim, you see, had a very special gift, a vision, if you will!  He could see things and know things that the common folks didn't.

His heart, full of gold and many a story he often told.  To the young and for the old!

Me as his niece, I know we had a special bond.  Together we would have chats that most would not care to entertain.

Jim is a guiding gem to you, his brothers; to you; his sister and to you, his friend.

Uncle Jim's was a place for many to go to truly be themselves.  A space to never feel judged and to always feel safe and to grab a cookie from his shelves.

Jim believed in everyone and always knew what to say and how to just be "there".

His life wasn't an easy one (well when compared to our own standards).  He lived a lot.  He seen a lot.  And from how I always seen it, Uncle Jim was more happy, more fulfilled and richer than any one I know.

And, he was the most well-fed bachelor so that can go to show!

He was loved, he was respected and was the rock up on the hill.  Because whenever any of us needed a laugh, a tire change, an oil change, or someone to tell them that they are doing a good job, James A. Phillips was the man to go see.

I just started a business and although he laughed at how he tried to say Reflexology, that man was so damn proud of me.  So proud and really believed in me and my success.

Even when for me me life was an upside-down mess, that man gave me space to heal and to figure out when and what my next step would be.  Always telling me that no mater what, he knew that I was going to be OK!

Uncle Jim will always be the rock up on the hill.  And a spirit guide or angel, refer to him as you will.

Trust he will always be there for you to sit and chat and share.

Don't leave him hanging, make sure you check in often, have a cup of tea and a biscuit and let your worries soften.
