Obituary

KENNEDY, John Richard - It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of John R.

Predeceased by his wife Genevieve; father John and mother Mary; daughters Jacqueline and Jeanette; son Kevin and precious grand-daughter Olivia.

Leaving to mourn his son John (Darlene), his four daughters; Caroline (Graham), Cathy (Sonya), Julianne (Bill) and Colleen (Joe), special grand-daughter; Jennifer (Jason), six precious grandchildren; Allison (Martin), Jonathan (Andrea), Rebecca (Kevin), Jacob, Taylor (Nathan), Kayla (Randy), great grand-children; Gavin, Charlotte and Jane, daughter in-law; Alicia, sister; Julianne, sister in-law; Irene (Clayton).  Also, a large number of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

John (Dad, Fadder, Pop, J.R.) was a kind, genuine soul.  A very independent man, he worked hard all his life at the CN Railway to provide for his family that resided at Mill Road, Avondale.  He took pride in taking care of his wife during the toughest times and stood by her through thick and thin.  He was a dear lover of horses, enjoyed going in the woods cutting a load or hunting and took pleasure in setting a vegetable garden.  You could always count on him if a hand was needed.  He loved to celebrate with family and friends, having a scuff and listening to the old-time music.

In later years Dad enjoyed visits and chats about the good old days and reminiscing about his CN co-workers.  His Sunday drives to a restaurant and off course a visit to whatever horse or animal around became the routine.  Phone chats every night catching up on the latest with Kevin Parsley and Harold Furey were conversations no one was allowed to interrupt.  We knew never to call at 9:30 am because his strong Christian faith kept him with God on TV till 10:00 am daily.  Dad always said, "The man up above will look out to me", and his strong belief in this was true.

A special thanks to the many care takers that looked out to Dad.  You helped make his days brighter along with the daily visits from his family.  There are no words to express the deep loss that is felt by your absence, and your lessons taught well learned.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life."
