Obituary

LEWIS (Conway), Marie Lorraine (Age 89) - In the early morning hours, a Beautiful Soul gained her Angel wings as she rejoined with the love of her life in Heaven.

With great love and the deepest sadness, we acknowledge that our beautiful Mom has completed her journey in this life in her 90th year, on April 26th, 2023.

Mom, you will now be reunited with your loving husband Brendan (2019), and your beautiful daughters Janet and Maria (2020).  We can only imagine the joy on your face, finally, when you get to see them again.

Leaving to mourn her absence and love are her children Brendan (Dolores), Gerard (Ros), Andy (Lena), Joe, John and Mary Ann (Roger); grandchildren Danielle (Matt), Brendan, Brad (Jessica), Chris, Leanna (Kyle), Andrew (Kaitlyn), Marc (Carla), Michael, Ryan and step-granddaughter Vicki (Brad); great-grandchildren Lydia, Lennon and step-great-grandchild Sarah; sisters-in-law Genevieve Lewis and Rita Maher (Frank), and all her nieces and nephews.

Mom was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and dear friend.  Mom is the last remaining sibling of the Conway family.  Like Dad, Mom was very active in her community of Colliers.  She was always there to offer a helping hand.  Mom enjoyed the many dances in the community hall and a great game of 120's.  She was never one to shy away from a challenge or hard work.  Mom use to call our home the "half-way house" where family and friends would always drop by for a cup of tea, some homemade bread and a bowl of soup.  She was well loved by all those who met her and will be dearly missed.

We often say we had two moms - the caring, loving person who raised her children and enjoyed life with Bren, family and friends, and the person who became dependent on her family and caregivers due to the terrible disease of dementia.  As Mom fought dementia over the last 12 years, it was our turn to return the love that she provided to us so endlessly.

Mom truly defied all odds.  With every step of the dementia, and at times when it wanted to take our Mom, she was able to fight back and be stronger than the day before.  Her resilience was amazing.  Mom was going out on her terms and not those of dementia.  She was truly an amazing woman.

We send a special thank you to the wonderful, outstanding staff on 3SW at Pleasant View Towers.  You all became a second family to us and showed so much respect for our Mom and Dad.  So many stories were told of "Nan", as staff would call her.  Thank you to all the amazing staff (too many incredible people to name) that loved Mom so much and enjoyed the spunk she often showed before her decline.  She was always up for a bit of fun.

A special thank you to our adopted sister Linda Winter, to Donna Preshyon and Ramona Trickett who helped our family so much and spent many hours with Mom.  They loved her as much as her children loved her, and she loved them.
