Mary (Ann)
Ghaney
Dec 5, 1935 — Apr 2, 2023
Avondale
GHANEY, Mary (Ann) - Passed away peacefully at home in Avondale on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, Mary (Ann) Ghaney Age - 87 years.
Predeceased by her parents: Nicholas and Mary (nee Sceviour) McGrath; Samuel Ghaney (father of her children); brothers: Raymond (Peg), and Joe; sisters: Mary Corbett (Jack), Loretta Johnston (Doug), and Geraldine Lewis; daughter-in-law Rhonda; and her special friend of 43 years Jack Perry.
Leaving to mourn her sons: Gary (Denise), David, and Benny (Tracy); daughter Darlene (Grant); grandchildren: Josh (Nora-Rae), and Jessica (Tommy); great-grandchildren: Maya, Felix, Thomas, and Lily-Rae; sister-in-law Aggie McGrath; brother-in-law Charlie Lewis; nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. Also, her home care support Bev Puddester (Rick) who provided dedicated care, support, and went above and beyond; her wonderful neighbours Noreen and Shea Tobin for being there to lend a helping hand; long-time neighbours: Cahill's, Flannigan's, and Lewis's; and Dr. Russell Lake and Vale of Avoca staff.
Mom enjoyed her independence and was known for her great sense of humour and was very set in her own ways. She enjoyed TV Bingo and her scratch tickets. Don't ever call or stop by while Bingo was on the go. If she missed a number, look-out! She was well known for making the best "Cold Plates" around. Just made her last one last week. Mom always had a note or two for David to run errands and she always said, "call me when you get there in case I want something else". Although Mom's health deteriorated, she kept a positive outlook. She didn't miss a trick, her mind was as sharp as a tac.
