Obituary

WALSH, Mary Myrtle - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrtle Walsh (nee Marche) of Colliers.  She slipped peacefully away surrounded by her family to be reunited with her late husband Joe on February 25, 2019.  She was 81 years old.

Myrtle was a strong, dignified and caring woman.  She was at her happiest when she had a belly full of fresh fish (even better if caught by her grandsons); going to bingo with her friends who doted on her and always made sure she was comfortable while playing; attending craft fairs showcasing her talent; knitting while catching up on tv; doing a jig with the Boxing Day mummers; spending time with her family; having a scuff into the hall at a dance; and having tea parties with her great grand-daughter, Arabella.

She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Walsh; her parents: Harold and Annie Marche; her sisters: Theresa Laracy, Elizabeth Cote, and Linda Hogel; her son-in-law Jerry McCarthy; her daughter-in-law Lena Griffis; and her grand-daughter Leah Walsh.

Left with fond memories is her daughter Shirley McCarthy (Ron); sons: Joe Walsh (Elizabeth), Bob Walsh (Margaret), Don Walsh (Sheila), Rod Walsh (Jeanene), and Len Walsh (Claudette); her sisters: Marie Alexander, Mary Farrow, and Alice Marche; her brothers: Leonard, Roddy, Simon, Ellis, Terry, Ivan, and Leo Marche; her grandchildren: Melissa Seward (Robert), Adam Walsh (Megan); Jillian Greene (Gerry), Jerry McCarthy (Amber), Hollie Power (Will), Andrew McCarthy (Ashley), Curtis Walsh, and Danielle Walsh; her great-grandchildren, who she adored; Jordan, Logan, Arabella, Arianna, Addison, Gus, Lincoln, Shawn, Andy, and Ethan.  She also leaves behind a large circle of nieces and nephews, and extended family; many lifelong friends including the 50 plus club and special companion, Marg Wall.

Cremation has already taken place as was Myrtle's wish.  A celebration of her life will be held at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home in Conception Harbour on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm.  Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:30 am at St. Anne's Church in Conception Harbour with a burial directly following at St. Anne's Cemetery in Conception Harbour.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Myrtle's memory can be made to either the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador; the Newfoundland and Labrador Arthritis Society; or the Newfoundland and Labrador Children's Wish Foundation, all foundations that held a special place in her heart.
