PICCO, Patrick James Kevin - Passed peacefully away in the presence of God and his loving family on Friday, July 2nd, 2021, at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, Patrick James Kevin Picco - Age 61 years.

Left with fond and loving memories are his wife and best friend Tracey; his three darling daughters: Amanda (Jeremy), Kimberley (Mike), and Bree (Brandon).  Also, his precious grandson Kellen; and his seven brothers and sisters: Isabelle, Neil (Joyce), Tom (Irene), Ben, Violet, Bernice, and Mary-Lou (Shawn).  He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews, family, friends, and his cat Cookie.

He is predeceased by his beloved parents Cornelius (2014) and Bertha Picco (March 16, 2021).

Pat was born in St. Joseph's, Placentia Bay.  After briefly living in St. John's, his family moved to St. Joseph's Salmonier, where he completed high school at Enright Memorial.

In 1983, he settled on Young Street in St. John's with his young family.  There, he put his heart and soul into renovating his family home and raising his children.  He sometimes worked 2 and 3 jobs to provide for them.  He was a very hard working family man.

Pat retired from College of the North Atlantic after 33 years of dedicated service.  He held several positions over the years, but finished as Custodial Supervisor.  Staff and students alike all thought of him as a good and honest man who carried a friendly smile and an outstretched hand, always eager to help in whatever way he could.

To his children and grandson, not only was he a committed, loving dad, he was a mentor, teacher, coach, confidante and very best friend.  To Kellen, Poppy was the bestest poppy ever.  They often said, "If you asked dad a question and he wasn't sure of the answer, he took out his encyclopedia collection, dictionary and in some cases the Holy Bible.  We remember him vividly explaining answers to our questions about life, faith, the planet and the human body.  Dad was oftentimes found on the living room floor surrounded by a sea of books and curious eyes."

During his retirement years, when he wasn't playing with Kellen or visiting his mother, he was out with his best buddy Kev, for "a few flicks" on Froggy Gully or relaxing at the trailer in Markland with Tracey.

When something needed fixing the saying among his siblings was "Call Paddy.  Paddy would know," and he would always be there to help.

A special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff of St. Clare's for their attentive care and for helping make Pat and Tracey's wedding day so special.  Also, to Pastor Gordon and Louise Young for the visits, prayers of healing and support.

At Pat's request cremation has taken place.

Visitation at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, on Thursday, July 8th, 2021, from 2:00pm-9:00pm.

"A Celebration of Life" will take place at Eastern Gate Church, 759 Empire Avenue, St. John's, on Saturday, July 10th at 2:00pm.
