Obituary

POWER, Richard Joseph - Passed away peacefully at the Pleasant View Towers Long-Term Care, St. John's, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, age 83 years.

Predeceased by mother Stella; father James; sisters: Dot (Mike), Marie (Spencer), and Marguerite (Bill); brothers: Tom, and Leo (Martina);  mother-in-law Agatha; father-in-law James; sisters-in-law: Margaret, Linda, and Lisa; brothers-in-law: James, Damien, and Rodney.

Leaving to mourn are his loving wife of fifty years and love of his life Agnes; son James (Brenda); daughter Lisa (George);  grandchildren: Alanna (Adrian), Brooklin, Kyla, Liam, Erica (Riley), and Georgia; great-grandchildren: Layla, Jonah, Lillian, and Josie.

Richard (Dick) was a resident of Avondale most of his life, but raised a family in Conception Harbour for over thirty years.  Richard was married to the love of his life Agnes for over fifty years.  He raised his two children Jimmy and Lisa on the Old Road in Conception Harbour until they moved on the mainland.  Richard was an employee of the Department of Highways for over thirty years until his retirement in 2001.  Richard's true passion was his love of the ponds flicking a line trying to catch some trout, specifically his love for southwest pond.  He passed along his passion of his beloved Montreal Canadiens to both his children who have since passed it on to their own kids.  He also had a keen curiosity and knowledge of science, space and politics and he loved to have a deep conversation about it.  A simple man who loved to sit with Agnes at the kitchen table, have a drink and listen to a few songs.  He will be forever loved and missed.

Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Richard's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
