Vernon's Obituary
Vernon (Vern) Carlton Tucker
June 5, 1951 - May 22, 2025
Tucker, Vernon Carlton (Vern) - passed away at Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, May 22nd, 2025 at the age of 73.
Predeceased by his mother Mildred and father John Tucker.
Vern leaves to mourn with heavy hearts brother Eric (Marjorie), sisters Marjorie Taylor (Robert) and Judy Snow (Edwin). Also leaving to mourn his nieces and nephews- Robbie Tucker (Nicole), Brian Tucker (Emily), Ryan Taylor (Robyn), Jordan Taylor (Jana), Ashley Greenwood (Sam), Toby Snow and Jillian Button (Andrew). He also leaves behind his great nieces and nephews, Abbey and Luke Tucker, Louise, Harrison and Isla Taylor, Oliver and Anna Greenwood, Eli Snow and Brady and Bentley Button and a large circle of family and friends, especially his friends and staff at the Long Term Care Home in Carbonear where he was a resident.
Vern was known for his smirky smile and his laugh. He loved a bit of fun especially when the staff at the home would torment him. He enjoyed all the recreational activities and being in the midst of visitors to the home. Vern loved watching TV, especially game shows and hockey, Chicago Black Hawks being his favourite team. He was a collector of movies from John Wayne to all the shows popular in the 70's- Gilligan's Island, Beverly Hillbillies, and many more. Music also played a big part in Vern's life. He was a collector of records since he was old enough to buy them, 8 track, cassettes and eventually CD's. He spent many hours listening to Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard and many more artists. He especially loved it when his great nieces and nephews would visit him. They always enjoyed the treats that Vern had in his room.
Vern worked in the fish plant in Port de Grave for a number of years but with age and his physical disabilities he retired from work. He never complained about his health and even up to his last few days at the home if you asked him how he was feeling, his answer was always "Good". When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. RIP
